About Us

On November 21, 1987, Meinolf Kahrig opened a music store in the center of Brilon under the name "Musikfachhandel M. Kahrig." That day marked the beginning of our company's history, starting with a space of approximately 100 square meters. Quickly, we developed a loyal customer base, mainly consisting of music associations from the surrounding area. Over the course of more than 30 years, our business has continuously evolved and expanded, now ranking among the largest music specialty stores in Germany.

By 1992, the original premises had become too small, prompting a relocation to a larger retail space. Over time, the company attracted new customers from distant regions of North Rhine-Westphalia and adjacent Hesse.
In February 2000, a significant milestone in our company's history was reached with the opening of a newly constructed 1,000 square meter building at our current location. On this occasion, the existing company name was changed to "music world." Finally, we were able to showcase instruments in a wide selection and provide each customer with an excellent shopping experience.

In 2002, another milestone was reached: the launch of our online shop. Alongside participation in major music festivals and advertising in specialized publications, the online presence became a crucial factor in increasing the company's visibility. Since then, "music world" has been gaining new customers daily from across Germany and neighboring countries, all while maintaining a focus on customer proximity.

In early 2006, through an expansion and acquisition of an adjacent building, the total area was once again expanded to 2,300 square meters. Thus, "music world" evolved over time into a modern medium-sized enterprise.

In 2016, through another new construction project, which was seamlessly integrated with the existing halls, an additional area of approximately 2000 square meters was created. This expansion increased the total usable area to around 4500 square meters. The new premises are partly used as storage and shipping facilities. However, during the renovation work, the focus was on completely redesigning and furnishing all specialized departments exceptionally. These new spaces made it possible to dissolve the external storage facility, which had been rented for 16 years, and consolidate the entire inventory at the main location, significantly reducing shipping times.

With the newly designed premises and our nearly 40 employees, we have the right conditions to provide our customers with a true shopping experience. This is complemented by excellent advice, which is gladly received by our customers from all over Germany and neighboring countries. For example, the new Acoustic Guitar Center alone showcases up to approximately 500 instruments.

Music World now serves over 100,000 customers across Europe, ranging from beginners and amateur musicians to professionals, with a growing trend. Additionally, our online store provides the convenience of browsing products, new arrivals, and special offers around the clock from the comfort of home. Service plays a paramount role in our company philosophy. In addition to individual customers, we also cater to institutions such as kindergartens, schools, music schools, and brass bands throughout Germany. Our in-house master workshop ensures expert repairs, while professional guidance from knowledgeable staff and rental or financing options complement our offerings.
