With 22 keys, the YCL-457II-22 is a fully-fledged clarinet for the advanced player. In addition to the features of the YCL-457II-20, it has an E-flat lever on the left and the double F/C key on the upper joint, as well as a duodecimal connection with the first bridge to improve the high B/C sharp trill. To simplify the response of the middle and high register in particular, the bore has been slightly reduced and the overblow hole has been changed. For a better grip and easier covering, the thumb hole and the first hole on the lower joint have been increased. The plateau with the thumb hole is kept flat and even, while the finger hole is raised like a chimney and has a particularly non-slip edge. To simplify the response, especially in the middle and high registers, the bore has been slightly reduced and the overblow hole modified. The lever of the overblow flap is easier to reach from the plateau of the thumb hole. A particularly important improvement has been made to the Es/B side flaps, whose high cork was often broken off by beginners when plugging them together. A metal base now provides stability here. The coupling of the so-called 'short' A key with the G# key improves the sound of the A and B notes and makes the G#-A trill easier. Instead of natural cork, a synthetic cork is now used for padding and fine adjustment of the mechanism, which is more durable and keeps the adjustment reliably constant. The new thumb rest is adjustable by 12 mm, has a more stable base plate, a larger and more comfortable contact surface for the thumb and a stable ring for the carrying cord.
